1. What is Precision CNC machining?
Numerical control machining refers to a process of machining parts on a numerically controlled machine tool. It is a mechanical machining method that uses digital information to control the displacement of parts and tools. It is an effective way to solve the problems of variable parts, small batch size, complex shape and high precision, and to achieve high efficiency and automatic processing.

Precision CNC machining refers to the parts to be machined. After CNC machining, it obtains more precise dimensional tolerances, usually around 0.002-0.01mm. This requires correct processing equipment, no matter the precision or size, the fixtures and the overall processing process must be designed to be more accurate and reasonable.

Features of Precision CNC machining
At the beginning, Precision CNC machine tools selected aircraft parts with complex profiles as machining targets, solving the key problem that ordinary machining methods are difficult to solve. 

The biggest feature of CNC machining is the use of perforated tape (or tape) to control the machine for automatic machining. Because aircraft, rockets and engine parts have different characteristics: aircraft and rockets are zero, the components are large in size and complex in profile; the engine is zero, the components are small in size and high in precision. 

Therefore, the CNC machine tools selected by the aircraft, rocket manufacturing department and engine manufacturing department are different. In the manufacture of aircraft and rockets, large-scale CNC milling machines with continuous control are mainly used, while in the engine manufacturing, both continuous-controlled CNC machine tools and point-controlled CNC machine tools (such as CNC drilling machines, CNC boring machines, machining centers, etc.) are used.

Process concentration
CNC machine tools generally have a tool holder and a tool magazine that can automatically change the tool. The tool change process is automatically performed by the program control. Therefore, the process is relatively concentrated. Process concentration brings huge economic benefits:

(1) Reduce the machine footprint and save the factory.

(2) Reduce or no intermediate links (such as intermediate inspection of semi-finished products, temporary storage, etc.), saving time and manpower.

Automation
When CNC machine tools are processed, there is no need to manually control the tools, and the degree of automation is high. The benefits are obvious.

(1) Reduced requirements for operators:
A senior worker of a general machine tool cannot be trained in a short period of time, and a CNC worker who does not need to be programmed has a very short training time (for example, a CNC mechanic needs a week, and a simple machining program is also written). Moreover, the parts machined by the CNC machine on the CNC machine tool are more accurate than the parts machined by the ordinary workers on the conventional machine tool, and the time is saved. 

(2) Reduce the labor intensity of workers: CNC workers are excluded from the processing process most of the time during the processing, which is very labor-saving.

(3) Stable product quality: The processing automation of CNC machine tools eliminates the human error, carelessness, estimation and other human error on the ordinary machine tools, which improves the consistency of the products.

(4) High processing efficiency: The automatic tool change of the CNC machine tool makes the machining process compact and improves labor productivity.

High flexibility
Traditional general-purpose machine tools, although flexible, are inefficient; while traditional special machines, although highly efficient, have poor adaptability to parts, are rigid and have poor flexibility, and are difficult to adapt to the fierce competition in the market economy. Products are frequently modified. As long as the program is changed, new parts can be machined on the CNC machine tool, and the operation can be automated, flexible and efficient, so the CNC machine tool can adapt to the market competition.

Strong ability
The machine tool can precisely machine various contours, and some contours cannot be machined on ordinary machines. CNC machine tools are especially suitable for the following occasions:
1) Parts that are not allowed to be scrapped.
2) New product development.
3) Processing of urgently needed parts.


3. Critical things on precision CNC machining 
Usually before the work piece is machined, several things must be considered, first the overall machining process, followed by the choice of machining equipment and cutting tools, and finally the design of the work fixture. After careful consideration, it is necessary to develop a corresponding process file and develop the corresponding fixtures and cutting tools.
